December, 2021

 December 2021

Most of you are inundated with Christmas greetings, so I will keep this concise. Esther and I (Joan writing) stayed in America to help with the delivery of Nathan and Hannah’s baby.  We PRAISE GOD over and above for giving them a safe, smooth delivery of sweet Olive Hope on December 15.

Re-entry is usually somewhat bumpy.  Dan, Joseph, and Gideon returned to Côte d’Ivoire in October.  They immediately were immersed in the church and school ministries, as well as house and car repairs. I am SO excited that Joseph is teaching the Bible class in French at three different levels in the Christian school.

Esther and I are planning to return to Côte d’Ivoire in January.  Please pray for our safe trip in these troubled, complicated times.

We PRAISE and glorify God for His leading in our children’s lives.  Who IS my favorite child?? Whomever I am talking about at the moment. May God use each of them as they follow His leading. We all speak French and love music.

Ruth has married Richard Jertberg and they have seven beautiful children and are missionaries to Madagascar serving with Baptist Missions to Forgotten Peoples.  Their ministry is evangelism and church planting. Richard is a pilot.  You can read their prayer letters and see their story at www.mad4christ.org.

Hannah has married Nathan Schrock. They have three beautiful children and are headed to Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa, to serve as missionaries in our same country. Their ministry is evangelism and church planting, heading to a more remote area of the country, along with discipleship and Bible-leadership training. Letters and pictures are at theschrockfamily.com

Seth and Paige Scott Cuthbertson are missionaries in Sassandra, Côte d’Ivoire. Their ministry is evangelism, church planting, and a prison ministry. They have two girls and, PRAISE GOD, a boy on the way. scuthbertson@baptistworldmission.org.

Lydia is also in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire, serving as administrator and kindergarten teacher for our Christian school. She has stepped into an important role and is doing a great job.

Susanna has married Matthew Schrock. They are seeking support for a one-year ministry in Côte d’Ivoire for a survey trip and for Matthew to learn French.  Their long-range goal is to start a church plant, along with a camp ministry.  This is a huge open-door opportunity in our country.  If God leads you to help them, funds for this can be sent to their home church: Crossroads Baptist Church, P.O. Box 624, Columbus, NC  28722.

Isaiah is in Lattimore, North Carolina, taking Master’s classes at Ambassador Baptist College

Stephen has married Martha Spitsbergen. They are settled in Shelby, NC, where Stephen will be taking Master’s classes at ABC starting in January. They areseeking God’s will for their lives.

Rebekah is graduating from ABC, preparing to come to Côte d’Ivoire as a missionary.

Josiah just started Ambassador Baptist College.

Joseph, Esther, and Gideon are still at home with us in Côte d’Ivoire. Praise God for His work in their lives.

Thank you for your continued prayers for us and for the ministry in Côte d’Ivoire!  Please continue to pray for our return in a couple of weeks, and for the activities of Dan and the kids, especially during this time.  May God richly bless you in the year to come!

In His grip,

Dan and Joan
